For anyone that’s having thoughts about joining the PMAS. From my own experience after joining and having gone through surgery in Kingsbridge hospital, I have nothing but good things to say about the whole process from start to finish.

I was easily guided with help from PMAS with the administration steps and documentation required for the HSE/Crossborder process. With the state of the art HD technology in Kingsbridge hospital they were able to lead to a total different outcome resulting in me not requiring a partial knee replacement. For €1 a week there’s no other health care that I know of that allows you access to a long list of specialists within a state of the art hospital. Thanks to everyone who was involved in setting up the PMAS, it certainly has eased my pain.

The PMAS scheme in my personal opinion is one of the best things a soldier can pay into.

The DF as a whole will not give you the service and medical assistance that is needed for the job we do on a day to day basis. I was injured badly on a DF exercise that was the fault of the kit and equipment I was issued and if it was not for the PMAS scheme I would still be suffering.

The PMAS scheme in my personal opinion is one of the best things a soldier can pay into.
