I would like to share my experience with the PMAS. I had been struggling with consistent pain in my right knee where every step was a dart of pain not severe but enough that my quality of life was suffering. I was 2 years on the HSE waiting list without as much as an appointment. It was recommended to me to have a look at joining pmas. So I contacted Damien Quigley who is Poc in dealing with all things that you need to know. From start to finish he was a pleasure to deal with. You fill in the forms and Damien takes care of the rest. The treatment I received from Kingsbridge was second to none. I am now walking pain free not runniNg yet as it’s only 12 weeks ago. From initial contact with Damien it took 10 mths from start to finish. Covid had a part to play in that delay. So I would highly recommend any one reading this whether you have an existing problem or just to give yourself medical cover going forward for the princely sum of 1euro to join this scheme. You won’t regret it.

The PMAS scheme in my personal opinion is one of the best things a soldier can pay into.

The DF as a whole will not give you the service and medical assistance that is needed for the job we do on a day to day basis. I was injured badly on a DF exercise that was the fault of the kit and equipment I was issued and if it was not for the PMAS scheme I would still be suffering.

The PMAS scheme in my personal opinion is one of the best things a soldier can pay into.
