First and foremost I would like to commend PDFORRA for introducing the Cross Boarder Medical Directive Scheme to the Defence Forces. The scheme allowed me to access private medical care promptly which otherwise

I may have had a lengthy wait for if accessed through public healthcare. I also received the benefits of private healthcare without the financial burden. The application to the initiative was dealt with within two weeks by PDFORRA after referral from my Physiotherapist/Doctor for surgery. Once this application was approved I was then able to contact Kingsbridge Private Hospital and make arrangements for a Consultation. I was seen by the consultant the following week and was scheduled to have my procedure within two weeks . The care and aftercare I received from the staff at Kingsbridge was second to none and truly reflected the 5* Rating they have. I would highly recommend this Scheme to anyone in need of any medical care.

The PMAS scheme in my personal opinion is one of the best things a soldier can pay into.

The DF as a whole will not give you the service and medical assistance that is needed for the job we do on a day to day basis. I was injured badly on a DF exercise that was the fault of the kit and equipment I was issued and if it was not for the PMAS scheme I would still be suffering.

The PMAS scheme in my personal opinion is one of the best things a soldier can pay into.
