In September 2023 my husband was due to deploy overseas, when my daughter started to show signs of tonsillitis. My daughter struggles every winter with tonsils and suffers sufficient pain and discomfort during this time.
My daughter was currently on a HSE waiting list for over 12 months and possibly waiting another 12 for an appointment with a Consultant.
My husband made contact with a PDFORRA Rep within his military Bks enquiring could he get our daughter an appointment in Knightsbridge Hospital through the PMAS service provided by PDFORRA.
Michael Murphy from PMAS made contact with my husband and I by email and explained the process step by step. The detailed information and attention to detail was exceptional.
I was quite nervous as my husband was overseas but Michael always answered questions.
Michael completed all necessary paperwork which was a great relief to us. After 4 weeks of initial contact with MAS my daughter had her appointment with the Consultant in Knightsbridge Private Hospital and within 9 weeks she received surgery to have her tonsils removed.
This allowed my daughter to have a normal Christmas without been sick or having sore throat which has been the case over the last number of winters.
As you are aware this is a cross border scheme and I had to pay for the appointment and surgery from own account.
Once I got all receipts and information I forwarded them onto Michael in MAS office and within 6 weeks of my daughter’s first appointment with the consultant and 4 weeks after the surgery, I received all my money back into my account. This was a relief as it was quite expensive but definitely money well spent.
I would like to sincerely say thank you to Michael Murphy and all members of the PMAS staff for the professional service showing to my family during this time.
This scheme that is provided by PDFORRA to its members is excellent and of a high standard.
